Turing Scheme

This is a programe run by the govcernment in which it gives moneu to univerisities to hand out to students in order to help them. Its a great way to get a little funding (of course depending on income) and you can hopefully put it to great use. You can choose when to get your first payment (the first option I believe is 3 months into your course - with the latest being 9 months). For disadvantaged students, its even better, because you get much more allowance. These payments sent to you are grants and so you dont have to pay it back. This is great reason to study abroad if you handle money well, this money could even be saved.

There are different destinations taht offer different amounts due to teh cost of living. I was in Spain so was in a group ranking with other countries where the turing scheme offers a certain amount.

There is a deadline on which you have to appy so make sure you keep up with this and email NTU finance or global for support.

Revolut

This is a card system that is great for using for exchange rates and sending money around the world. It is very popular and likely you already have one. You can use a currency converter there too which is super helpful and pretty mich all my friends at university in Spain used this card system whilst out there.

Advice

Of course whilst abroad there are so many chances to go on trips, eat out and enjoy the culture. But its important to be careful with your money since spending like its a holiday can reduce your funds to very low. I recommend sending yourself an allowance on revolut and thats the only money you use in that day or week. Exceeding this will mean you need to readjust your budget or change something. I think its vital to understand how much money you can spend whilst still having a good time and making memories. There wasnt a lot of student discount things in Spain, Valencia that I was aware of except for Erasmus things (but this was a student corporation anyways) so be careful with leading into full price things. I would also recommend if you go to a hotter country like Spain is buying larger water (since you cant drink the tap water there) rather than small bottles because this becomes much more expensive.

Dia

This was a supermarket in Valencia and they have an equilvalent of a Tesco clubcard there which was very good for saving. So use any supermarket cards - for discount offers.
